ABOUT US

We, at the KZNCB, strive to follow the motto displayed in the scroll at the base of the emblem of the PSSA, “Pro Salute et Valetudine Populi” which translated into English means “For the health and welfare of the people”. We also pay homage to where we came from. At our new premises in Westway Park we have a collection of pharmacy artefacts and memorabilia.

A strong pharmaceutical profession is the linchpin of healthcare.

We will also be honouring our members with the following awards, the criteria of which will be published soon:

  • Distinguished Community Pharmacist of the Year
  • Distinguished Hospital Pharmacist of the Year
  • Distinguished Academic Pharmacist of the Year
  • Distinguished Industry Pharmacist of the Year

We also see the strengthening of our future pharmacists and members as important since the pharmacist is the custodian of medicines and pharmaceutical products. To this end, we will be playing a role in facilitating the following student awards and bursaries:

  • The KwaZulu-Natal Young Pharmacy Leader (Third year UKZN student)
  • The KwaZulu-Natal Young Pharmacy Leader (Fourth year UKZN student)
  • The KwaZulu-Natal Development Bursaries

At our new premises in Westway Park our collection of pharmacy artefacts and memorabilia, pays homage to where we came from. Anyone viewing these historical remnants of a bygone age and with a knowledge of current practice, will marvel at the strides that we have made in science and technology, from the fragile pages of prescription books and are more than a 100 years old, written in the finest penmanship, to the ancient bottles of medicines and potions!
